Top 25 Albums: #22 Strange Mercy by St. Vincent

St. Vincent (AKA Annie Clark of NYC) got her start singing backup for Sufjan Stevens, one of my favorite artists of all time. You can definitely hear hints of Sufjan’s trademark maximalist orchestral arrangements in this album, but she goes off in her own direction in Strange Mercy very nicely.
St. Vincent displays her knack for incredible syncopation of her instruments, and it gives the album a very bouncy feel that can be very fun to listen to.
Standout tracks:
St. Vincent: “Surgeon”
St. Vincent: “Dilletante”
